Coronavirus
infections
A new virus called the
severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been
identified as the cause of a disease outbreak that began in China. The disease
is called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The virus is a type of
coronavirus — a family of viruses that can cause illnesses such as the common
cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory
syndrome (MERS). The new coronavirus appears to be spreading from person to
person. It may be spread by respiratory droplets when someone infected with the
virus coughs or sneezes. It's unclear exactly how contagious the virus is.Symptoms include:
- sneezing
- runny nose
- fatigue
- cough
- fever in rare cases
- sore
throat
- exacerbated asthma
Preventive step taken to
avoid coronavirus are:
·
Don’t handshake
with people. Use other way to greet.
·
Avoid close
contact with people who are sick.
·
Avoid touching
your eyes, nose, and mouth.
·
Stay home when
you are sick.
·
Drinking enough
water.
·
Avoiding smoking
and smoky areas.
·
Cover your cough
or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
·
Clean and
disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household
cleaning spray or wipe.
·
Wash your hands
often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to
the bathroom;
before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or
sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
·
Recommendations for using a facemask if
